  Iva's birth location has been difficult to pin down. On her marriage license, it is recorded that she was born in Calhoun County. On the birth record of her son Shirley Lynn Jackson, it is recorded that she was born in Berea, Ritchie County and she signed the record herself. She is found in Calhoun County (1900) prior to her marriage, living with her parents in Calhoun County but where were the parents living at the time of her birth? . . . Further research found both her older brother Clarence, and her younger brother Gilbert were both born in Ritchie County. This gives greater strength to the birth location to be Ritchie County as recorded in the birth record of her son.
