  Listed as Ezra in the 1920 and 1930 censuses for Perry Co., Ohio. **** From Jerry Gross, "Mentioned in settlement papers for grandfather's (Calvin Gross) estate 31 May 1939." **** Obituary: Ezra J. Hoops, 63, of New Lexington, died at 6 pm Saturday in Good Samaritan Medical Center after a six month illness. Mr. Hoops was born Sept 29 1909 at Ironpoint, Perry County, a son of William and Daisy Gross Hoops and was employed by the New Lexington water works. Surviving are his widow, Florence; five daughters Mrs. Roger (Nancy) Newlon and Mrs. James (Peggy) Owens, both of New Lexington, Mrs. Rex (Dorothy) Wood of Shawnee and Mrs. A.B. (Ruth) Wilson and Mrs. Alen (Patricia) Forgave, both of New Lexington Route 1; a son Edward J Hoops of New Lexington; 17 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Gardner (Lillian) McCartor of Hemlock and a brother, Albert Hoops of New Lexington. Three brothers preceded him in death. The body was taken to the Roberts Funeral Home at New Lexington Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 pm today.
